A shipping label is a crucial component of the delivery process that helps carriers accurately and efficiently deliver packages to their intended recipients. It typically contains key information such as the sender and recipient's contact details, weight of the package, tracking number along with the barcode, and shipping date.
Consistent labeling is essential for effective tracking, and the standard size for a shipping label is typically 4 x 6 inches (10,16 x 15,24 cm). By providing all the necessary information, a shipping label helps carriers avoid errors and delays, ultimately ensuring timely and successful delivery.

Often, when sending goods, we come across the issue of indicating the weight of the shipment. In fear of exceeding the weight limit, we often indicate a higher weight, which increases the cost of the shipment. We offer to use an old but effective way to quickly create weights:

Step 1: Find a sturdy clothes hanger.

Step 2: Take two identical bags or sacks.

Step 3: Place items with a known weight, such as flour, pasta, or a salt package, in one bag. You can also use bottles filled with water or other liquids.

Step 4: Place the items you want to send in the other bag.

Step 5: Find a way to hang the bags with the hanger, and balance the newly created weights by adding or removing counterweights.

You can see the delivery time for each carrier when selection the carrier. The duration of shipping relies on the carrier company and the service type you opt for. Certain services guarantee the delivery in time, while others offer only estimated delivery time.
Once the shipment is en route, you can utilize the Tracking tool with your tracking number to check the expected arrival time of your parcel.

When your parcel is out on the road

In your account go to the order history and select the required shipment. Then click on the "Track" button. You will be erdirected to the website of the carrier and you can see the location history of the parcel.

What to do if...

We have been working in the field of deliveries for more than a year. In general, our statistics show that delivery by courier is more reliable than Post - due to shorter delivery times and more careful treatment of shipments. But, unfortunately, there are also cases when the parcels do not reach their addressee. Therefore, in this section, we will tell you what to do if the missing parcel turned out to be yours.

First step: From the beginning, you have to make sure whether there is really a reason to panic. Usually, almost all courier companies assign a track number to each shipment. Therefore, we check the status of our shipment by track number.

Second step: If the status of the shipment has not been updated for a long time and all delivery terms have long expired, then do not waste time, let's start the search. To start a search, the sender or receiver needs to file a complaint with the one who provided him with this service, the courier company or the post office.
Note. If your shipment was processed through the nosuti.lv service, our specialists will help you prepare the application.
Here is what is required to submit an application for parcel search:
- Submission in free form;
- Document certifying the fact of sending;
- A document confirming the value of the shipment.

Third step: After the application is sent to the courier company, it will be necessary to wait. The answer can sometimes take up to a month.

IMPORTANT to know! If successful, your shipment will be found and sent to the recipient. In the event that the parcel is not found, you will be compensated for the value of the parcel as well as the delivery costs, but other scenarios also happen, we will tell you about them in the next section...

We wish you that your shipments do not get lost!

Receiving an additional invoice after some time can be due to several reasons:

Weight or Dimension Discrepancy: We understand that it is not always possible to correctly weigh or measure a package in the office or at home. In that case, direct measurements are made by the delivery company itself when your package is brought to the warehouse. If it happens that your shipment turns out to be heavier and larger, according to your application, then the delivery company will send us an additional invoice and fee, which we also forward to you.

Return or Redelivery Fees: If there was an issue delivering the parcel (e.g., incorrect address, recipient unavailable), and the package needed to be redelivered or returned, the delivery company might charge extra for these services.

Customs Clearance: For international shipments, customs clearance procedures can result in additional fees. These might include import duties, taxes, and clearance fees, which are often not included in the initial shipping cost.

To understand the specific reason for the additional invoice, it's best to contact the Sender.lv Team. We can provide detailed information on the charges and assist with any queries or disputes you may have regarding the invoice.

The main duty of courier companies is to successfully deliver the cargo to its destination, but...in the process of transportation, several unforeseen situations may arise, as a result of which the cargo may be damaged.

Therefore, in this article, we will consider the sequence of cargo receiving algorithms. As the quote goes, “Forewarned, therefore, armed”.

Terms of shipment acceptance

No way! Not under any circumstances! Even if the courier was in a hurry. Do not immediately sign the proof of delivery until you are sure that everything is in order with the shipment. You have the right to open the package and inspect its contents, especially if there are visual defects in the packaging.

Important to know: You signed - so you confirmed the receipt and the absence of claims!

Couriers such as Itella, Venipak... of course, will consider your claim, and that's it, you probably won't get compensation.

Therefore, at the moment of receiving the cargo, we recommend evaluating the appearance of the package!

If you find visual defects in the presence of the courier, we immediately open the package and check its contents. If you noticed a shortage or damage in the contents of the package, the courier needs to document this fact.

This act will be your main document, with the help of which the courier company will be obliged to pay you compensation!

Usually, many couriers have a separate form - AKTS, if the courier does not have a separate form, then this fact is documented in the delivery confirmation.

After drawing up the act, you immediately need to notify the cargo carrier about it and make a claim. If your shipment was processed through sender.lv. service, then you need to report it to us.

If you signed the delivery confirmation, but later found a damage, do not give up, sound the alarm and write a claim.

From all of the above, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that quality packaging is the key to successful delivery. In addition, it should not be forgotten that various force majeure situations may occur during cargo transportation, therefore, we recommend additionally insuring cargo with a particularly high value.

Best wishes,
sender.lv team

Such cases are rare, they can occur. If you did not opt for the "hand delivery" service requiring passport check by the courier, it is possible that neighbors may have received the parcel. We suggest checking with them first. If this does not resolve the issue, please contact us. We will request a delivery form from the courier company, which includes the recipient's signature, and initiate an investigation. We are here to assist you in locating your parcel!

If you have provided any incorrect information, please contact us at our phone number (+37126004459) or email us at info@sender.lv.

Shipments from other countries to Latvia

From November 19, 2019, the recipient of parcels from countries outside the EU will need to fill out the customs declaration themselves in the system -> www.eds.vid.gov.lv. This will primarily affect the purchase of goods from the popular Chinese service "aliexpress".

!Customs tax and formalities will no longer be handled by customs officers, but the customer will need to submit a declaration and calculation to customs in the electronic system EDS.

!! Postal items, the value of which does not exceed 22 euros, do not need to be declared and tax paid. On the other hand, if the amount is from 22 - 150 euros, then the recipient needs to pay a tax of 21%. If the value is over 150 euros, then in addition to the tax payment, the import tax must also be paid - it varies depending on the product. For example, for clothing, it is 12% of the amount.

!!! Another important aspect should be taken into account - if the contents of the shipment from third countries contain food products, the exception is animal products (coffee, chocolate, cookies, etc.), then their weight together with the packaging must not exceed 1 kg. If the weight is over 1 kg, the package will be sent for inspection to the Food Veterinary Service and only after that it will be necessary to fill out the declaration.

Do you want to calculate customs duty in advance? Then use the customs calculator - http://www.muitaspaligs.lv/.

Knowledge of customs formalities will help you avoid unpleasant situations. As the famous saying goes, "Forewarned is therefore armed".

Sincerely,
Sender.lv team
