Prohibitions / Restrictions

Carefully read the list of prohibited goods. Many companies not only refuse transportation of prohibited goods, but also charge a fee from the sender.

Any kind of weapons or explosive materials

Aerosol cans and sprays or any items or boxes with Hazardous labels

Any flammable or radioactive materials

Illegal drugs and perscription only medicine

Alcohol or alcoholic beverages

Tobacco and tobacco products

Money or any kind of documents

Any plants, or animals

Being aware of guidelines and restrictions for the items you are shipping is crucial to ensure safe and secure transportation of all shipments.

The shipping requirements and permitted goods may vary depending on the destination country's local laws and regulations. Depending on the nature of the item being shipped, additional documentation, specific packaging, labels, and package markings may be required, while others may only need a shipping label:

  • Is the item being shipped a Lithium Battery?
  • Are there any flammable materials being shipped?
  • Is approval required to ship this item?
  • Are there any liquids or perishable items being shipped?
  • Have I met the shipping regulations for these items?


Here is a list of items that are prohibited to ship under any circumstances:

  • Live animals, including mammals, reptiles, fish, invertebrates, amphibians, birds, insects, larvae, and pupae.
  • Hunting trophies, animal parts (such as ivory and shark fin), animal remains or ashes, and animal by-products.
  • Human remains or ashes.Bullion of any precious metal.
  • Cash in the form of legal tender, including bank notes, currency notes, and coins, as well as traveler's cheques.
  • Loose precious and semi-precious stones, whether cut or uncut, polished or unpolished.
  • Complete original and imitation firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, and explosives or explosive devices.Illegal goods, including counterfeit goods and narcotics.
  • Counterfeit goods that violate intellectual property rights (IPR).


The following items will not be accepted for shipping
(unless Sender.lv agrees otherwise):

If a customer wishes to ship such items, Sender.lv will conduct a business case to determine if they can be approved for carriage. If approved, the items will be recorded in writing with the customer

  • Items of historical or cultural significance, such as antiques, works of art, and fine art, with an individual value exceeding 2000 EUR.
  • Banderols or tax stickers with a shipment value exceeding 500,000 EUR.
  • Tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars, and electronic cigarettes or accessories, with a shipment value exceeding 500,000 EUR.
  • Electronic cigarettes and accessories require Sender.lv special approval.
  • Dangerous or hazardous goods, including perfumes, aerosols, flammable substances, dry ice, biological substances, UN classified dangerous goods, and any goods specified as such under IATA, ADR, or IMDG regulations.
  • Commemorative coins or medals and high-value collectibles with an individual value or total shipment value exceeding 2,000 EUR.
  • Hunting trophies and animal skins not intended for human consumption.
  • Financial and monetary commodities with a shipment value exceeding 500,000 EUR, such as activated SIM cards, gift cards, event tickets, lottery tickets, money or postal orders, pre-paid phone cards, blank stock tickets, vouchers/tokens, and unused stamps.
  • Jewelry and watches with individual values exceeding 5,000 EUR and a maximum individual approval value of 10,000 EUR.
  • Toy guns, firearm parts, firearm attachments, ammunition parts, Tasers, or controlled military items.


Shipping Counterfeit Goods are Prohibited

If you come across heavily discounted prices for branded products sold on shopping websites or elsewhere, it is likely that the products are fake.

Here are some examples of high-quality branded products that are frequently counterfeited:Footwear, apparel, handbags, luxury watches, CDs and DVDs, fragrances, electronic devices.

It is illegal in numerous countries to import counterfeit goods, and if discovered, Customs officials may confiscate the goods and impose penalties on the purchaser.



Shipping Lithium Batteries

Pre-approval as a Sender.lv account holder is required for shipping Lithium Batteries. The safe transportation of such contents by air and the full compliance to ICAO/IATA regulations is the legal responsibility of the Shipper.

  • Lithium Batteries are classified as Dangerous Goods
  • Specific shipping regulations apply to Lithium Batteries
  • Defective, damaged, and recalled batteries are prohibited for shipment
  • Compliance and safe transportation of Lithium Batteries are the legal responsibility of the Sender
  • Sender.lv does not accept all types of Lithium Batteries

Permitted to send (pre-approval required):
Packages that include equipment with less than two batteries or four cells can be shipped without the lithium battery mark. For example, a package with a notebook computer that has one lithium ion battery and two small lithium metal coin cells installed can be shipped.

Not permitted to send:
Lithium batteries that are defective, damaged, or recalled pose a high safety risk to people and property and cannot be transported by aircraft under any circumstances. If a defective, damaged, or recalled lithium battery is suspected or known to be inside a laptop, mobile phone, or any other device, the battery must be removed before Sender.lv can accept the shipment.



Shipping Dangerous Goods

Dangerous goods, which are also referred to as hazardous materials or hazmat, are substances or materials that have the potential to cause unreasonable risks to health, safety, and property. The initial step in mitigating the risks associated with such products is to identify them, and then ensure proper packaging, communication, handling, and stowage.

  • Shipping regulations exist for the transportation of Dangerous Goods.
  • Compliance with shipping regulations for Dangerous Goods is the responsibility of the Shipper.
  • Carriers does not accept all types of Dangerous Goods for transport.
  • Prior approval from Sender.lv is required to ship Dangerous Goods.
  • Carriers will only accept Dangerous Goods shipments that meet specific restrictions and conditions.
  • Notification of intent to ship Dangerous Goods must be provided to Sender.lv.
  • Additional charges apply to shipments of Dangerous Goods.

Carriers complies with the following regulations: IATA for all air services. ADR applicable within all countries that have adopted the ADR convention in their legislation. Other applicable national legislation, depending on the origin, transit and destination of the shipment.
